Looking for materials to read with your kids to help them to learn and process current events (and the history leading up to them)? Perhaps you would simply like to expose them to diverse voices and perspectives. Maybe you would like some advice directed at you - the caregiver - for engaging in tough conversations about race, racism, and prejudice. We want to help! We've put together a list of some of the books we have in our department that feature black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) characters, authors, and illustrators. Keep in mind that this is not a complete list - but it is a list of titles we recommend. You can check our catalog for additional titles. We have also included a link to further reading and resources for kids and caregivers, compiled by librarians around the country.
If there are items we do not have in our catalog that you would like to see, please reach out to us using the contact form at the bottom of this page. Thank you for your support!
