About the Bartholomew County Public Library

Our mission is “Providing resources for lifelong learning and enjoyment."  We offer services to the citizens of Bartholomew County via the Main Library in Columbus, Hope Branch Library, and Bookmobile service with at least one stop in every township.

At an annual cost of less than $50 per person (the price of buying your own hardback book plus a DVD), we provide access to more than 200,000 books, large print books, audiobooks, music CDs, DVDs, and magazines. We provide 24/7 online services including databases, placing holds and renewing items, and downloading books, music, and magazines. Programs and computer classes for all ages and one-on-one “Book a Librarian” assistance are available.  Public computers and wireless internet access are accesible at the Main Library or Hope Branch. Not for profit groups can use meeting space at the Main Library or Hope Branch free of charge. Talking Books, housed in the Main Library, serves persons with visual or physical handicaps in 16 southeast Indiana counties. The Main Library also houses the collection of the Columbus Indiana Architectural Archives.
